A man and woman in their 70s were killed and a suspect was shot by Orange County sheriff’s deputies in San Juan Capistrano Tuesday.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a “domestic incident” at about 7:30 a.m. in the 32000 block of Alipaz Street.
Deputies who arrived at the San Juan Mobile Estates complex found the bodies of a 77-year-old man and 79-year-old woman, and a dog was also found dead, according to Orange County sheriff’s Sgt. Matthew Parrish.
While deputies were on the scene, a caller told dispatchers there was a man covered in blood chasing a maintenance worker nearby, Parrish said. Deputies found that 41-year-old suspect near a bike trail at Calle Arroyo, and during the ensuing confrontation, he was shot by a deputy, Parrish said.
It is unknown whether the suspect had a weapon, or what prompted the shooting. He was taken to a hospital in serious but stable condition, Parrish said.
Parrish said it appears that “all these people are related in some fashion,” but the exact relationship was still under investigation.
