Temple City High School was briefly placed on lockdown Thursday following a report of an armed person on campus, but the call was believed to be a hoax.
Deputies responded to the school in the 9500 block of Lemon Avenue around 2:10 p.m., establishing a perimeter in the area and locking down the school as a safety precaution, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
After a thorough search, investigators concluded that no one was injured and there was no suspect, suggesting the report was a swatting call. A swatting call is a report made to emergency services to deceive agencies into sending a large law enforcement response to a specific location under erroneous pretence.
The lockdown was lifted around 2:25 p.m., according to sheriff’s officials.
No additional information was immediately available.
