A 17-year-old boy has been arrested and booked into juvenile hall on suspicion of making criminal threats against Rancho Mirage High School, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department announced.
Deputies responded to the campus in the 31000 block of Rattler Road around 6 p.m. Wednesday after a report of school violence threats posted online.
With assistance from the FBI, deputies identified a residence in the 27000 block of Ventura Drive in Cathedral City as the location of the origin of the threats, according to the department.
On Thursday, deputies identified a 17-year-old boy as the suspect allegedly responsible for making the threats, and the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team along with the Cathedral City Police Department conducted a search of the juvenile’s home, where they allegedly found evidence of the online criminal threats.
No firearms or dangerous weapons were located in the residence. The juvenile was subsequently arrested and booked into juvenile hall for criminal threats against the school.
