A 25-year-old man who was killed in a multi-vehicle collision that left a family trapped inside a vehicle on the Riverside (91) Freeway in Riverside has been identified, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to a collision at about 11:50 p.m. Thursday on the eastbound freeway at Pierce Street, where they found a Subaru, a white Toyota Corolla and a tan Chevy Tahoe blocking lanes and debris from the vehicles scattered across all lanes of the freeway.
Justin Winans of Chino was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Riverside County coroner’s office.
The CHP issued a Sigalert for the closure of the freeway for several hours after the crash.
