A 68-year-old man who was killed when he was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross a Reseda street was identified Monday.

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department ‘s West Valley Division were called at 9 p.m. Friday to Reseda and Victory boulevards regarding a person down. When they arrived, officers learned a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle while he was in the roadway, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene. He was identified Monday by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner as Panorama City resident Matthew Behrooz Chavol.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers, police said.

The LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division wass investigating the collision.
