A 33-year-old man with a felony conviction suspected of possessing over 40 pounds of packaged methamphetamine for potential sale was taken into custody, authorities announced Thursday.

Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station Special Enforcement Team investigators executed a search warrant at a house in the 2300 block of Hemlock Avenue on Wednesday at 8 a.m. after an extended investigation into an illegal operation.

They seized 49 pounds of packaged methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $58,000, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators also recovered an assault rifle and two semiautomatic handguns and booked Alfredo Pimienta of Moreno Valley into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of possession of narcotics, possession for sales, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and other related offenses.
