Fire damaged a home in Monterey Park Thursday, and may have left a person dead.

Firefighters responded to blaze around 12:15 p.m. in the 2400 block of New Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The fire was doused in about 30 minutes.

KTLA5 reported that a person was pulled from the burning home and pronounced dead at the scene. Fire and sheriff’s officials would not immediately confirm the report.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
