Fire heavily damaged a vacant, two-story commercial building in downtown Los Angeles Monday, but no one was hurt.
The fire was reported at 3:57 a.m. at 1350 S. Flower St., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Margaret Stewart.
Flames were shooting through the roof when firefighters arrived, she said.
“With over 80 firefighters on scene at the peak of the battle, crews extinguished the fully involved building in two hours and 33 minutes with no injuries reported,” Stewart said in a statement.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
Metro suspended train service on the A and E Lines in downtown Los Angeles due to the fire, which was near the tracks.
The tracks were reopened around 1:40 p.m., and Metro service resumed normal operation, according to Metro.
