Two men were in the hospital with wounds suffered in unrelated Long Beach shootings, authorities said Monday.

The first shooting occurred at 9:25 p.m. in the 1100 block of East Anaheim Street, Long Beach police Lt. Eric Fritz told City News Service.

Responding officers rendered medical aid to a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body until paramedics arrived and took him to a hospital, Fritz said. The wound was not believed life threatening.

The second shooting occurred at about 10:38 p.m. at a homeless encampment in the area of the Long Beach (710) Freeway at Willow Street, the lieutenant said. Officers found another man with gunshot wounds to his lower body. Paramedics took him to a hospital with wounds not believed life threatening.

The suspects in both cases left the scene, Fritz said.

The shootings were not believed related, he said.
