Police Tuesday are investigating the shooting of two security guards– one critically wounded — outside the Target store at the FIGat7th shopping mall in downtown Los Angeles.
Officers responded to the outdoor mall in the 700 block of South Figueroa Street, near Seventh Street, around 8:55 p.m. Monday to reports of shots fired, police said.
The two victims were taken to a hospital, one whom NBC 4 reported was in critical condition. The condition of the second victim is in stable condition, NBC 4 reported.
Investigators described the suspect as a white man with Afro-styled hair and he was last seen wearing all black clothing and a gray backpack, according to police.
The suspect was last seen leaving the scene toward Eighth Street, the Los Angeles Times reported, citing information from police radio calls.
It was unclear what motivated the shooting, and detectives were conducting an investigation Monday evening.
A 9-year-old boy and a 24-year-old woman were stabbed at the store on Nov. 15, 2022, by a 40-year-old homeless man, who was shot and killed by a security guard employed by Target, then-LAPD Chief Michel Moore said.
