A man who allegedly attacked a woman with a deadly weapon was barricaded Friday inside a Lancaster residence while a team of Special Enforcement Bureau deputies was stationed outside.
The drama began about 6:30 a.m. in the 45100 block of Redwood Avenue, Deputy Kit Gruppie of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Lancaster Station told City News Service.
The man allegedly attacked the woman with a deadly weapon that was not a firearm and barricaded himself inside a residence, Gruppie said.
Arriving deputies evacuated homes in the surrounding area and established a containment zone, and members of the Special Enforcement Bureau then arrived to surround the occupied residence, Gruppie said.
A Mental Evaluation Team was attempting to contact the suspect to get him to surrender, the deputy said.
Paramedics took the victim to a hospital for treatment of injuries from which she was expected to recover, Gruppie said.
Roads in the neighborhood were shut down and people were urged to avoid the area.
