Officers recovered a handgun inside a vehicle from a motorist who ran from a traffic stop in Long Beach, authorities said Sunday.
The suspect was taken into custody a short distance away, the Long Beach Police Department reported. The attempted stop occurred at about 8:40 p.m. Saturday near Cherry Avenue and Washington Street, and officers allegedly located a handgun inside the vehicle.
No injuries were reported and the investigation was ongoing.
