Police requested the public’s help Wednesday in locating the hit-and-run driver responsible for critically injuring a 49-year-old man crossing a street in Boyle Heights.

The collision occurred on Feb. 5 around 8:50 p.m. as the pedestrian was attempting to cross First Street west of Fresno Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The man was struck by a silver, older model 1999-2004 Honda Odyssey traveling west on First Street that failed to stop, according to police.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived at the location and rushed the victim to a hospital in critical condition.

“Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” the police department said in a statement.

The LAPD released a graphic video showing the collision at youtube.com/watch?v=pSh-q3DMQpM.

The city is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the suspect.
