A 29-year-old man made his first appearance in court Friday on charges of raping a woman in Newport Beach.
Lanelray Depaz of Newport Beach was charged March 6 with a count of sexual penetration by foreign object and force and two counts of rape, all felonies. He was accused of attacking the woman Oct. 3, according to the criminal complaint.
Depaz was arrested by Newport Beach police on Wednesday. He made his first appearance in court Friday in the jail courtroom, but did not enter a plea. He is scheduled for arraignment March 28 in the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach.
Depaz was ordered held on $100,000 bail.
