Authorities Wednesday sought the public’s help in finding the suspects who killed a 50-year-old man in South Los Angeles by setting him on fire about a year and a half ago.
The attack happened around 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 6, 2023, when Clay Buchanan was seated in his parked Ford SUV in the 400 block of East 102nd Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
A vehicle approached from behind, and the suspects threw an unknown accelerant onto Buchanan and his SUV, then set him on fire before fleeing the scene, police said.
Buchanan was taken to a local hospital and was pronounced deceased later that day.
A motive for the homicide remains unclear, police said.
A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the suspects’ identification, arrest and prosecution.
