Police in Torrance Monday reminded the public to celebrate Cinco de Mayo responsibly by designating a sober driver before heading out.
The Torrance Police Department will have extra patrols deployed between 5 p.m. Monday evening and 1 a.m. Tuesday.
They will be specifically looking for intoxicated drivers, said Torrance police Sgt. David Koenig.
”Don’t put yourself and others on the road at risk by driving impaired,” Koenig said.
Whether using alcohol, prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications or cannabis product, don’t get behind the wheel, the sergeant said.
Planning for safe transportation before a night of celebration makes a potentially tragic miscalculation less likely, authorities say.
