A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy was wounded and an armed robbery suspect was killed Saturday in a shootout in Lancaster.
The situation started with a robbery call for service at 8:20 p.m. Saturday in the 1200 block of West Avenue K, at 12th Street West, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
There was a shootout between at least one deputy and the armed robbery suspect, which left the suspect dead at the scene and sent the deputy to Antelope Valley Hospital, where he was undergoing surgery.
A videographer at the scene said the deputy was in critical condition when transported to the hospital.
