Details remain scarce Sunday as the investigation continues into the death of a young boy, possibly 3 or 4 years old, whose body was discovered in or near a dumpster in Panorama City.
Officers were dispatched to the 8200 block of Van Nuys Boulevard, just south of Roscoe Boulevard, about 7 a.m. Saturday, where they discovered the body, according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Division.

Detectives from the LAPD’s Juvenile Division-Abused Child Unit is investigating the death, according to Officer Kevin Terzes, who said they have limited the release of information to preserve the integrity of the case.
Department spokesman Officer Charles Miller told the Daily News investigators are canvassing the surrounding area in search of surveillance footage and potential witnesses.
Miller said it wasn’t known whether the boy had been reported missing.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles County medical examiners were working to determine the cause of death.
