A street takeover preceded an alleged looting at an AutoZone Auto Parts store in South Los Angeles that left the store in shambles, police said Monday.

Los Angeles Police Department officers from the department’s Newton Division responded at approximately 1:30 a.m. Monday at 4335 S. Main St. and Vernon Avenue, where video showed a large amount of broken glass and scattered merchandise in the store’s parking lot.

Video from ABC7 showed the officers arriving and clearing the store of possible looters before entering.

NBC 4 reported witnesses said dozens of people were at the street takeover prior to the looting.

No injuries were reported,
