A man fired shots from a car at three people in Seal Beach and eluded officers arrived, police said Friday.

Officers responded to the 100 block of Marina Drive at approximately 3:56 p.m. Thursday to reports of shots fired, according to the Seal Beach Police Department.

Two of the people who had been shot at were later located by officers near the 300 block of Marina Drive, near Marina Park, and stated that they had been shot at by the unidentified suspect last seen traveling westbound on Marina Drive in a dark-colored vehicle, police said.

Further investigation led officers to a third victim, who was wearing a light-colored shirt, camouflage pants, and carrying a dark-colored backpack.

The third victim was seen on surveillance video walking in the 300 block of Marina Drive on the south side of the street moments before the suspect drove past him and fired three rounds toward his direction.

“The third victim continued walking westbound after the shooting and left the area. He was not contacted by officers, and his identity remains unknown at this time,” according to the police department.

Detectives identified the suspect as a white or Hispanic man in his 20s with curly ”moppy” hair, who is believed to be traveling in a dark-colored late-model Honda Civic with dark rims.

“Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. A parked vehicle along Marina Drive was struck once by gunfire,” police said in a statement.

Police said detectives are asking anyone with video footage of the shootings to review the clips, with a particular emphasis on the areas between Pacific Coast Highway and First Street.

Anyone with information on the shootings or footage was urged to call Seal Beach Police Department Detective Jacob Otto at 562-799-4100, extension 1109. He can also be reached by email at jotto@sealbeachca.gov.

  1. This was about the worst written article i’ve ever read. So much of it made little sense and it seems that it was generated by a child.

  2. It’s “passersby”, not “passerby’s”. Passersby is the correct word to begin with, but most importantly, apostrophes DO NOT make plurals. So, even if it was “passerbys”, it would STILL be wrong.
