At least five people were injured in a shooting in South Los Angeles Tuesday, with one person taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Officers responded around 2:30 p.m. to reports of shots fired near Manchester Avenue and Figueroa Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Police said the suspect was believed to be traveling in a white sedan, but no description was available.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics took four victims to hospitals.
One was listed in critical condition, two were in serious condition and the fourth was in fair condition with non-life-threatening injuries, according to LAFD spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz.
The extent of each victim’s injuries was not disclosed. Police said three of the victims were male.
“This incident of violence has disrupted the peace and will absolutely not be tolerated,” Mayor Karen Bass said in a statement. “I’m working with community leaders and LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell to prevent future incidents.
“LAPD will increase their presence in South LA. Community violence interventionists are working to deescalate community tensions and support victims and their families in the aftermath of these tragic events. I call on all neighbors, residents and young people to be peaceful. We will come together and we will support one another.”

Glad the police are doing their job, hope they can work with BP and ICE. CA is like a war zone. I don’t feel comfortable shopping. I like Costco’s checking photos ID. Maybe more cameras. Prayers for our country. PRAYERS FOR OUR LAW ENFORCEMENT, BP, ICE , NG AND MILITARY.
