A single-vehicle crash in Menifee left a 61-year-old man from Hemet hospitalized last week, and authorities believe he suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel.

The crash was reported at 5:15 a.m. Thursday on Domenigoni Parkway, east of Laguna Vista Drive, according to the Menifee Police Department.

Responding officers found a Kia Sportage with minor damage and found the man still inside. Cal Fire and paramedics responded to the scene, and the victim was rushed to a hospital.

The police department’s Traffic Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

Investigators believe that the vehicle was traveling east on Domenigoni Parkway at an unknown speed when it crossed over the concrete center median and came to a rest in the westbound lanes of traffic. The driver was unresponsive and was believed to have suffered a medical emergency, but his identity was withheld.

The condition of the man was unknown. Drugs and alcohol were not considered factors in the crash.
