The victim who was killed in a crash in Boyle Heights that also left three women injured was identified Tuesday.
A pickup crashed into a parked vehicle, killing Eric Ramos, 24, who was in the front passenger seat of the truck and ejecting three people riding in the back.
The crash was reported at 4:20 p.m. Sunday at 100 N. Chicago St., at First Street, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
The casualties were all in a pickup truck that was westbound on First, according to Officer D. Orris of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations Center.
Ramos, who was identified by the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner, was pronounced dead at the scene, Humphrey said.
Paramedics took three women to a trauma center, including one with critical injuries and two in serious condition, Humphrey said.
Firefighters had to use hydraulic tools to free one of the patients from the wreckage, he said.
The 25-year-old man driving the pickup allegedly fled on foot after the crash and was eventually taken into custody, Orris said.
Video from the scene showed Ramos’ clothing and shoes lying in the street.
A witness told KABC 7 that prior to the crash the driver was driving recklessly.
It was not known whether drugs and/or alcohol were factors in the crash, Orris said.
LAPD traffic investigators were working to determine the cause of the crash, he added .
