A member of the Los Angeles Fire Department is being evaluated for a minor injury where a single-tank big rig carrying an unknown amount of pressurized propane rolled over Saturday morning at a freeway transition road in Boyle Heights, authorities said.
It was determined that there was no active leak of the product and the vessel can now be safely uprighted without off-loading the propane fuel, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.
Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched at 4:59 a.m. to the transition road from the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway to the eastbound Pomona (60) Freeway.
The driver of the truck was being medically evaluated at the scene and his condition was not known.
“The CHP (California Highway Patrol) will utilize private contractors for repositioning the vessel as well as scene clean up,” said Jennifer Middleton of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
A SigAlert was issued at 5:14 a.m. closing the transition road from the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway to the Pomona (60) Freeway for approximately two hours, according to the CHP.
There was no other immediate information available.
