Authorities Thursday continued investigating a fatal vehicle-versus-pedestrian hit-and-run crash in Indio.
The crash was reported just before 9 p.m. Wednesday near the area of Van Buren Street south of Doctor Carreon Boulevard, where responding officers found a man in the roadway with significant injuries, according to the Indio Police Department.
Paramedics attempted lifesaving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect vehicle was later located at an apartment complex in the 47000 block of Van Buren Street, but it was unoccupied, according to the Indio PD. The department’s Traffic Division has assumed the investigation.
No identifying information on the suspect was immediately available.
