A Mecca man was under arrest Friday on suspicion of fatally shooting two people in the community of Thermal.
Alberto Tomas Padron, 43, was booked into Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of murder, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies responded about 11:33 p.m. Wednesday to a report of “two possible deceased subjects” in the 67000 block of Polk Street, where they found Oscar Romero Castro, 50, and a 47-year-old Hispanic man suffering from gunshot wounds, authorities said.
Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene, the department said.
Authorities identified Padron as the suspect. Working with the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office Gang Impact Team, deputies located him Thursday in the 91000 block of Third Street in Mecca and took him into custody without incident, authorities said.
The investigation was ongoing.
Anyone with information regarding the shooting was asked to contact Investigator Joshua Manjarrez at 760-393-3530.
