Federal authorities Saturday were continuing to investigate the circumstances of a near-collision between a Frontier Airlines jet and a pair of trucks that crossed the plane’s path on a Los Angeles International Airport taxiway.

The encounter occurred shortly before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday as Frontier flight 3216 was taxiing for departure.

In audio of radio transmissions between the aircraft and tower, the pilot is heard reporting that “two trucks just cut us off.”

“We had to slam on the brakes not to hit them,” the pilot said.

He later added that, “It was real close. Closest I’d ever seen.”

It was unclear what type of trucks passed in front of the plane, which resumed taxiing and took off as scheduled for Atlanta.

Frontier Airlines issued a statement saying, “We are aware of the incident. No injuries were reported to passengers or crew. We thank our crew for their vigilance and professionalism.”
