A 25-year-old man pleaded guilty Wednesday and was sentenced to time served in jail for an alcohol-fueled crash in 2023 that killed a 47-year-old man in Anaheim Hills.
Shivam Ghanshyam Patel lost control of the Lamborghini he was driving on Oct. 20, 2023, and crashed just before 6:30 p.m. on Santa Ana Canyon Road near Lakeview Avenue, according to police testimony at his preliminary hearing.
The owner of the car — 47-year-old Adi Roth — was killed in the crash, police said.
Patel had a blood-alcohol level of .09 and marijuana in his system, police said.
Patel pleaded guilty to gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury, driving with a blood-alcohol level in excess of the legal limit causing injury, driving under the influence of alcohol and a drug while causing injury, all felonies, and misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and hit and run with property damage for a collision Jan. 31, 2024.
Patel was sentenced to four years and four months in prison by Orange County Superior Court Judge Larry Yellin. Patel had 1,552 days credit , just over 4 1/4 years, since his arrest March 1, 2024.
