A vegetation fire that scorched 17 acres of brush in Mecca was fully contained Friday.
The blaze was reported shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday at Lincoln Avenue and Avenue 70, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The wind-fueled fire spread across 17 acres, but no evacuations were ordered and no injuries were reported.
Crews were on the scene for most of the day Thursday and into Friday to build containment lines and mop up hot spots. The blaze was fully contained on Friday. There was no immediate word on what triggered the fire.
