The driver of a gray Toyota RAV4 slammed into a freeway wall Friday morning but managed to escape injury when the SUV burst into flames, the California Highway Patrol reported.

CHP officers and Los Angeles Police Department officers responded at 1:57 a.m. Friday to the North Vermont Avenue off-ramp of the southbound Hollywood (101) Freeway, where they found the damaged SUV, which was fully engulfed in flames, CHP Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel arrived to extinguish the flames, leaving the SUV a smoldering wreck.

No injuries were reported. The LAPD will handle the investigation of the collision, Garcia said.
