A small fire on the 15th floor of a 23-story high-rise in Westwood prompted residents to shelter in place, but no injuries were reported.
Firefighters responded at about 1:50 p.m. Monday to the building in the 10500 block of West Wilshire Boulevard after receiving reports of a fire that activated a smoke alarm, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Fire crews climbed the stairwell to the 15th floor and found a small “contents fire” that was quickly doused.
Residents who sheltered in place were evaluated, but there were no immediate reports of injuries, LAFD spokeswoman Lyndsey Lantz said, adding that three people were assessed at the scene and declined further medical treatment.
Lantz said three units on the 15th floor suffered significant smoke damage and were being assessed for habitability, while other residents were able to return to their units.
Traffic was impacted in the area, with Wilshire Boulevard closed between Warner Avenue and Manning.
