A ruptured gas main caused a leak of natural gas in Sylmar Saturday, prompting authorities to evacuate a 12-unit apartment complex.
The leak was reported at about 12:15 p.m. Saturday at 14100 W. Foothill Blvd., near the Foothill (210) Freeway, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. It was caused by an approximately 1-inch gas main break, officials said.
The department said a building at 14128 Polk St. was being evacuated, with 12 units affected.
“There are no reports of injuries or medical complaints at this time,” the LAFD said.
There was no active fire hazard, the department added.
