A 95-year-old woman driving a Toyota RAV4 compact crossover SUV was killed in a three-vehicle collision in Irvine Wednesday.
The woman was driving westbound on Irvine Center Drive toward Valley Oak around 9:10 a.m. Wednesday when she entered the intersection against a red light, according to the Irvine Police Department.
A northbound Ram pickup truck, which had a green signal, then collided with the RAV4.
The impact of the collision caused the Ram to travel toward a Tesla 3 Series sedan heading in the same direction at the green light signal, but on the left of the Dodge, and the two collided, police said.
The driver of the Rav-4 was taken to a hospital, but later died.
Her name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.
The IPD Major Accident Investigation Team was investigating the collision. Anyone with information about the collision was urged to call Detective David Juarez at 949-724-7047.
