A Los Angeles man and his accountant were facing felony charges for allegedly siphoning over $6 million from elderly clients they were hired to protect and manage, officials announced Tuesday.
Gregory Oveross and Faranita Corvalan were charged last month in downtown Los Angeles after an investigation of five client trusts, estates and conservatorships exposed a pattern of unauthorized fund diversions and probate court violations leading to criminal charges, according to California Attorney General Rob Bonta.
The duo are facing state charges that include grand theft, grand theft from an elder or dependent adult, and failure to file an income tax return.
“Bad actors who intentionally prey on the most vulnerable within our state will be swiftly brought to justice,” Bonta said in a statement. “Our elders deserve to be treated with respect, care, and dignity, not victimized. The California Department of Justice remains committed to defending the fundamental rights of all Californians, ensuring that we hold these bad actors accountable under the maximum extent of the law.”
The defendants allegedly conspired to steal from client accounts and evade income taxes between August 2018 and October 2025, authorities said.
Prosecutors allege Oveross illicitly wrote checks to himself and to accountant Corvalan for a total net theft of over $6 million.

Looks like both spent time in jail until they made bail. I hope the State throws the book at them if found guilty. White collar crime isn’t punished as severely as other felonies. But these two should spend the rest of their lives in jail.
