A utility pole was damaged in a crash on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu Monday, closing down the busy coastal route in both directions for hours.

The crash was reported at 3:20 a.m. Monday in the 28000 block of PCH, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, which responded to the location but did not take anyone to a hospital.

The pole was left damaged and prompted the closure of PCH between Paradise Cove Road and Kanan Dume Road.

A spokesman for the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station told City News Service that as of 4:50 p.m., one lane in each direction had been reopened to traffic. Southern California Edison estimated that power would be restored by 8 p.m. It was unclear how many customers were without power.

Details about the crash that knocked down the pole were not immediately available.
