An allegedly impaired driver behind the wheel of a vehicle that struck and killed a pedestrian in the Pacoima area was facing possible charges Wednesday.

Los Angeles Police Department officers were called to the 12600 block of Branford Street, between Interstate 5 and San Fernando Road, at 9:13 p.m. Tuesday, where a white pickup truck struck the pedestrian, according to the LAPD.

The victim, a 37-year-old woman, was pronounced dead by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel at the scene.

She was identified Wednesday by the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office as Jessica Flores, who sustained blunt-force injuries.

The street was closed for the crash investigation, which revealed that the pickup truck driver, a 43-year-old man, was heading eastbound on Branford when he struck Flores, who was crossing northbound and was in the No. 2 lane outside of a crosswalk when she was hit, authorities said.

The driver remained at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. He is facing a possible charge of vehicular manslaughter, according to the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division.
