A motorcycle rider who was killed in a collision in La Puente with a vehicle driven by an undercover Alhambra police officer serving a search warrant was identified by county authorities Thursday.
His name was David Cano, 46, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office. His city of residence was not immediately available.
The crash was reported about 5:45 a.m. last Thursday at the intersection of East Amar Road and North Evanwood Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, which responded to the scene, but did not transport anyone.
Images from the location showed a tent of the kind used to shield a body from public view at the site of the wreckage, in the middle of the roadway.
An Alhambra police officer at the scene was recorded in a video posted to social media saying one of his department’s officers was undercover and serving a search warrant when the collision occurred. Other officers also were in the vehicle, according to news reports.
