A woman sued Beverly Hills social club Gravitas Tuesday for injuries she says she received when a holiday ornament fell on her head on New Year’s Eve 2024, leaving her with lost income and emotional distress and impaired her ability to work and drive.
Amber Rose Levonchuck’s Santa Monica Superior Court lawsuit also names as defendant a company that the suit states installed the holiday decorations. Levonchuck’s negligence-based suit seeks unspecified compensatory damages for alleged medical costs as well as her pain and suffering.
A Gravitas representative did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
According to the suit, Levonchuch was seated in a booth at the Camden Drive club on Dec. 31, 2024, when a sphere that was suspended from the ceiling and was part of the decorations detached and fell onto her head.
Levonchuck was dazed and suffered immediate head, neck, visual and neurologic symptoms, including a reported brief loss of consciousness, a headache, dizziness, blurred vision, nausea, confusion and neck pain, according to the suit, which further states that the plaintiff was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for emergency evaluation.
Levonchuck’s symptoms persist and include headaches, vertigo, imbalance, visual disturbance, neck pain and stiffness, difficulty with memory, concentration and processing, disrupted sleep, anxiety, irritability, emotional distress, fatigue and “diminished tolerance for ordinary activities,” the suit states.
A heavy decorative object suspended above seated patrons presents a “concealed and unreasonable risk of serious injury” if it is not competently designed, attached, secured, tested,inspected, maintained and, when required, backed by an appropriate secondary restraint, the suit states.
Levonchuck also has suffered lost income and emotional distress, the suit further alleges.
