A 22-year-old man who was found shot to death inside the wreckage of an SUV after it collided with a white sedan in an unincorporated area near Huntington Park was identified Thursday.
The crash was reported at 7:39 p.m. Wednesday at 66th Street and Holmes Avenue in Florence-Firestone, according to the California Highway Patrol.
There was also a call of shots fired at around the same time, the CHP said.
Three people were taken to hospitals by ambulance for treatment of injuries, the CHP said.
Video from the scene showed a dead man in the driver’s seat of the gold Chevrolet Tahoe.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified him Thursday as Brandon Corvera.
The shooting preceded the crash, Lt. T. Inocente of the Century Sheriff’s Station told City News Service.
Sheriff’s homicide detectives have taken charge of the shooting investigation, he said.
The CHP was investigating the crash, Officer Elizabeth Kravig told City News Service.
