A suspect in the killing of a woman in an apartment near Santa Monica College was in custody Sunday.
The Santa Monica Police Department received a call at about 5:20 p.m. Saturday about a woman in need of medical attention in an apartment in the 1900 block of Pico Boulevard, according to a statement from the department.
Arriving officers found her with “significant injuries,” police said.
Santa Monica Fire Department paramedics attempted to save her but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her name was not released pending notification of family.
The suspect’s arrest was announced at 8:45 p.m. Saturday, but Santa Monica police have not released any additional information.
“There are no additional suspects being sought at this time,” the department said. “The investigation remains active and ongoing.”
The homicide was the fifth of the year in Santa Monica, one more than in 2025, Lt. Lewis Gilmour told City News Service.
