A 57-year-old man accused of gunning down three people inside a Hollywood apartment was being held without bail Wednesday and facing a trio of murder charges.
Patrick Kevin Spurlock was arrested Thursday in the 6600 block of Franklin Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department and county jail records. He was charged Monday with three counts of murder, according to court records.
The murder charges include a special circumstance allegation of multiple murders, opening him to a possible death sentence if prosecutors choose to pursue it. The charges also include allegations of murder with a prior murder conviction and personal and intentional discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury. The charges also allege Spurlock has one or more serious prior felony convictions.
According to court records, Spurlock is scheduled to appear in court in Hollywood Aug. 31 for a mental competency hearing.
Officers conducting a welfare check at 11:30 p.m. Aug. 2 discovered the three victims at 1929 Wilcox Ave. at Cahuenga Boulevard, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.
They were identified as Los Angeles residents Jeremiah Badeker, Jack Cartegena and Michael Bogacz. Their ages were not immediately available.
“In the early morning hours of July 24, 2026, the suspect and the victims were gathered in an apartment in the 1900 block of Wilcox Avenue in the city of Los Angeles,” according to an LAPD statement Wednesday. “Inside the apartment, an altercation occurred, and the victims were ordered to the floor at gunpoint by the suspect. While the victims lay on the ground, the suspect shot them numerous times. The victims were discovered several days later and were pronounced deceased. ”
The nature of the altercation was not immediately known.
