The death of a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle in Long Beach was under investigation Monday.

The woman was struck about 8:20 p.m. Friday in the area of Alamitos Avenue and 10th Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Police said the woman was walking west in the north crosswalk of 10th Street when she was struck by a vehicle whose driver was making a left turn from 10th Street to northbound Alamitos.

The woman was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital, where she later died, according to the LBPD, which was informed of the death on Sunday. Her name, age and place of residence were not immediately available.

The driver remained at the scene as required and cooperated with the investigation.

Neither speed nor impaired driving were believed to be factors in the collision, police said.
