Police sought the public’s assistance Wednesday in solving the 2022 murder of a 30-year-old man in Long Beach.
Officers responded around 8:45 p.m. June 19, 2022, near Anaheim Street and Roswell Avenue to reports of shots fired, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
They located Leevi Maseuli of Palmdale inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body and immediately began performing life-saving measures until the arrival of Long Beach Fire Department personnel, who took Maseuli to a hospital, where he died.
Police said Maseuli’s 7-year-old son was a passenger in the vehicle when the shooting occurred, but sustained no injuries from gunfire. He was also taken to a hospital for minor non-life-threatening injuries for and later released and reunited with his mother.
“To commit such a heinous crime in any circumstance is unacceptable, but to do so on Father’s Day in front of the victim’s child is even more disgraceful,” Long Beach Police Chief Wally Hebeish said in a statement.
