A “small fire” prompted the closure of Aldama Street Elementary School in the Mount Washington area Friday, and classes were being held at a nearby school, authorities said.
The fire at 632 N. Avenue 50 occurred before school started on Friday morning, according to the Los Angeles Unified School District.
“Everyone at the school has been safely relocated to Monte Vista Street Elementary, which is on the corner of Avenue 54 and Monte Vista (Street),” the LAUSD said.
Dismissal and pickup will be at Monte Vista Street Elementary School at the normal time, the LAUSD reported. Also, the LA’s Best after-school program will supervise students at Monte Vista with a regular schedule.
