A brush fire that erupted Wednesday just north of Hemet scorched roughly two acres before it was stopped.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 1:20 p.m. in the area of Pony Trail and Hidden Springs roads, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a low rate in the direction of a residence.

Two Cal Fire air tankers and a water-dropping helicopter were summoned to make runs on the brusher, but before they could initiate operations, firefighters on the ground stopped the blaze’s forward rate of spread. The aircraft departed at 1:50 p.m.

By 2 p.m., the fire was almost fully contained.

No property damage was reported, and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
