A 20-acre brush fire in the Castaic area that was sparked by a burning big rig along the Golden State (5) Freeway was 80% contained Tuesday.
The so-called Martins Fire was reported at approximately 4:10 p.m. Monday near the Paradise Ranch Mobile Home Park along the northbound freeway.
The fire, which broke out near the small community of Martins, closed lanes of Interstate 5 in Castaic and spread to nearby brush, burning approximately 20 acres and prompting evacuation warnings.
No injuries or damaged structures were reported.
The blaze initially burned about 15 acres at a moderate rate of speed, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. By about 5:25 p.m. Monday, the fire had grown to approximately 20 acres, according to Cal Fire.
An LACFD spokeswoman told City News Service that the fire was largely contained at about 25 acres by 6 p.m. Monday.
According to Angeles National Forest officials, crews worked overnight into Tuesday to construct fire lines and increase containment to 80%.
