Vice presidential nominee Sen. Tim Kaine, still somewhat obscure despite an apparent loss in the recent debate by the major party vice-presidential nominees, will be the featured attraction at a pricey fundraiser for the Democratic ticket Saturday night in the Los Angeles area.
Prices to attend range from $2,700 per person to $33,400 per couple.
Individuals donating $5,000 will have their picture taken with the Virginia senator, according to an invitation obtained by City News Service. Couples donating $33,400 will have dinner with Kaine and have their picture taken with him.
The $2,700 ticket price is based on the maximum individual contribution to a presidential candidate in the general election under federal law. The $33,400 figure is the maximum amount an individual can contribute to a national party committee in a year.
British singer, songwriter and guitarist Corinne Bailey Rae is set to perform.
The fundraiser is being held at the home of businessman Andrew Hauptman and his wife, Ellen Bronfman Hauptman.
Hauptman is chairman of Andell Inc., a private investment firm and owner of the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer. His wife is the daughter of Canadian billionaire Charles Bronfman.
Kaine was last in the Southland Sept. 19-20 for two fundraisers.
