The Los Angeles City Council Friday approved a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in a beating death in downtown Los Angeles.
Donald Sandstrom, 61, was attacked about 2:30 a.m. Sept. 22 in a parking lot near Seventh and Main streets.

An LAPD spokesman said the killer used an object to strike the victim several times in the head. Sandstrom was pronounced dead at the scene.
The award was approved by a 11-0 vote.
Capt. Marc Reina of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Division announced on Twitter Oct. 20 that an arrest had been made in the case and that a business’ surveillance video was instrumental in identifying the suspect.
But Reina was not available for follow-up questions and the LAPD’s Media Relations Section said it had no information available on a possible arrest.
