Los Angeles Gladiators all-star Lane Roberts will throw a ceremonial first pitch Wednesday evening as the Los Angeles Dodgers conduct Overwatch League Night in connection with the esports league’s All-Star Weekend.
Roberts will be joined by fellow all-stars Indy Halpern and Terence Tarlier of the Los Angeles Valiant and Nikola Andrews of the San Francisco Shock in participating in a meet and greet in Dodger Stadium’s Right Field Plaza prior to the game against the St. Louis Cardinals.

The All-Star Weekend for what organizers bill as the first major global professional esports league with competition organized by cities will be held at the former NBC Studios in Burbank. A series of custom games pitting Atlantic and Pacific All-Stars against each other will be held Saturday with the All-Star Game set for Sunday.
Also throwing a first pitch Wednesday will be Dodger second baseman Chase Utley’s sons Ben and Max in connection with their father’s bobblehead night.
Retired U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Ruben Ayon will be honored as the Military Hero of the Game. Ayon was a member of the Marine Corps from 1993-2012, traveling to more than 40 nations, serving 10 remote tours, including deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.
Ayon’s honors include the National Defense Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, NATO Medal and Navy Unit Commendation.
Ayon now works for the state government.
