Tenant rights attorney Ysabel Jurado holds a 21-vote lead Saturday over Assemblyman Miguel Santiago in the race for second place in Los Angeles’ District 14 City Council seat, behind Councilman Kevin de León.
Jurado moved into second Friday with 21.51% of the vote while Santiago, D-Los Angeles, has 21.42%, according to figures released Friday by the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.
De León continues to lead with 25.34% of the vote.
Because no candidate in the field of eight will receive a majority, the top two candidates will meet in a runoff in November.
An updated count is set to be released Saturday. It was unclear how many ballots remain to be counted.
Jurado was in third with 18.92% in the count released Wednesday morning with Santiago in second with 20.27%, 250 votes ahead of Jurado.
Jurado trailed Santiago by 291 votes in the count released Wednesday afternoon and by 148 votes in the count released Thursday afternoon.
District 14 encompasses Boyle Heights, Lincoln Heights, Downtown Los Angeles, El Sereno and Northeast Los Angeles.
